What We Install

Intercom Solutions for Hotels

Front Entrance Video Station

Camera and intercom at the main entry. Front desk staff see and speak with guests before unlocking the door. After business hours, calls route to the night manager or on-call staff.

Front Desk Monitor

Dedicated monitor or integrated into the front desk workstation. Staff admit guests with one button press while managing check-ins simultaneously.

After-Hours Guest Entry

Late arrivals call through the intercom — front desk staff or night manager verifies the reservation and buzzes them in remotely. No key under the mat, no lockbox workaround.

Service Staff Access

Housekeeping, maintenance, and room service staff enter via access control credentials — no intercom needed for routine authorized access. Intercom handles guests and deliveries only.

Delivery and Vendor Management

Loading dock or service entrance intercom for food deliveries, laundry, and vendor access. Staff verify deliveries before granting access to service areas.

Visitor Log

All intercom interactions logged with timestamp and camera snapshot. Useful for incident documentation, guest dispute resolution, and security audits.

Why It Matters

Hotel Entry Security Considerations in NYC

Hotels face unique entry security challenges — 24-hour operation, late-night arrivals, service staff rotation, and the need to distinguish guests from non-guests at a single door.

After-Hours Entry Without Physical Staff

Small boutique hotels and owner-operated properties often don't have front desk coverage overnight. A video intercom with remote answering lets the night manager or owner admit late arrivals from anywhere via phone.

Non-Guest Access Control

NYC hotel lobbies are targets for non-guests looking to access amenities or guest floors. A locked lobby entry with intercom verification ensures only guests and authorized visitors get past the front door.

Service Staff Separation

Housekeeping and maintenance staff have access credentials and use service entrances — keeping service traffic separate from the guest experience and making each entry auditable.

Insurance and Liability Documentation

A video log of every person admitted to the property is valuable documentation for incident response. Hotel properties with controlled entry and timestamp logs are in a better position when disputes arise.

FAQ

Common Questions — Hotels

Yes. IP-based video intercoms forward calls to the night manager's mobile phone — the guest presses the button, the night manager sees the camera and speaks with them, confirms the reservation by name or booking reference, and presses a button in the app to release the front door. This workflow works from anywhere with a data connection. For very small boutique properties without 24-hour staffing, this is often the entire after-hours entry solution.
Direct integration between intercoms and PMS platforms (like Opera, Cloudbeds, or Mews) varies by system. Basic integration is typically via webhook or API — the intercom logs entries with timestamps that can be cross-referenced with arrival data. For properties that want tighter integration, some IP intercom platforms (Verkada, BAS-IP) offer PMS connectivity. We assess your PMS during the quote and advise on what level of integration is achievable.
The standard configuration is that guests contact the front desk from their room (via in-room phone or the hotel's internal system) and the front desk buzzes in approved visitors at the lobby. Some properties prefer a direct guest-to-lobby intercom where guests can buzz in visitors themselves from their room — this is configurable but requires individual room stations or app-based access. We design the workflow during the system specification based on your operational preferences.
Yes. Each entry point gets its own door station, configured to route calls to the appropriate station or person. Lobby entry calls go to front desk; service entrance calls go to the loading dock manager or facilities phone; parking gate calls go to whoever manages parking. All entry points are on the same system, managed from one platform, with a unified log.
We install commercial-grade hardware for hotel applications — brushed stainless steel or anodized aluminum door stations rated for heavy daily use. For lobby-level installations in NYC where weather exposure is limited, we use Aiphone IX or 2N Verso series, both of which are designed for high-traffic commercial environments. For exposed outdoor entries, we use weatherproofed variants. Consumer video doorbells are not appropriate for hotel applications.
