Law Firm Structured Cabling

Cabling Infrastructure Built for Firms That Can't Go Down

NYC law firms depend on uptime. We design and install Cat6A structured cabling systems for law offices — conference rooms, attorney suites, secure server rooms, and reception — with the redundancy and documentation that IT and managing partners both demand. Work scheduled around your billing hours, not ours.

Commercial Structured Cabling

We Work Across Every Commercial Property Type

What Law Firms Require

Cabling Considerations Unique to Legal Offices

Law firm infrastructure has higher stakes than a typical commercial office. Client confidentiality, 24/7 availability, and minimal disruption to billable hours all shape how we design and install the system.

Secure Server Room Infrastructure

Your server room is the nerve center — client files, billing systems, case management software. We spec dedicated Cat6A runs, proper patch panel density, and physically separated cable pathways so data infrastructure never shares conduit with anything else. Temperature and airflow considerations built into the layout from day one.

Conference Room Connectivity

A conference room used for depositions or client meetings needs more than one data drop. We run 4–6 Cat6A drops per room, power at the table, and dedicated AP drops — all concealed in wall plates and cable raceways. Videoconferencing gear needs a wired connection, not shared office Wi-Fi.

Redundant Network Paths

If the primary internet circuit goes down during a trial prep deadline, that's a real problem. We design dual-path cabling infrastructure so your backup ISP circuit terminates independently, failover is automatic, and no single cable failure takes down the whole firm. Redundancy built into the cabling layer, not patched in after the fact.

VoIP Phone System Cabling

Most law firms still rely heavily on phones — partner direct lines, reception, paralegal extensions, conference room speakers. VoIP handsets run over PoE on the same Cat6A infrastructure as data, so you don't need a separate phone wire pull. We plan drops for every desk, reception station, and conference room speakerphone location.

Scheduled Around Billable Hours

Drilling through walls and running cable is loud. We get that attorneys can't be on client calls with construction noise in the background. We work evenings and weekends as standard practice for law firm projects — no upcharge required — so your team shows up Monday morning to a finished, operational system.

Labeled, Documented Infrastructure

Every port labeled at both ends. Every run tested and certified. As-built documentation delivered at handoff so your IT firm — or whoever replaces them — always knows exactly what's what. No guessing, no tracing cables through a drop ceiling at 11pm before a deadline.

What We Install

Infrastructure Built to Legal-Grade Standards

From the patch panel to the partner's desk — every component spec'd for reliability, performance, and clean presentation in a professional environment.

Cat6A Horizontal Runs

10-Gigabit capable to 100 meters. Handles simultaneous PoE for phones, cameras, and APs without the heat buildup issues you get with Cat6 under PoE load. Standard spec for every new law firm project.

24 & 48-Port Patch Panels

High-density patch panels with consistent color-coded labeling. Organized by zone — attorney offices, conference rooms, reception, server room — so port identification is immediate and unambiguous.

Secure Server Room Layout

Structured cable management in the rack, separate pathways for data vs. power, and proper bend radius protection throughout. Presented clean enough for a vendor walkthrough at any time.

In-Wall & In-Ceiling Concealment

No surface raceways running through finished reception areas or conference rooms. Cables go inside walls and above drop ceilings. Where surface mounting is necessary, we use paintable cable channels that match the wall finish.

Wireless AP Drops

Ceiling-mounted AP drops positioned for full coverage across open bullpen areas, conference rooms, and waiting areas. Each AP gets a dedicated Cat6A run — no daisy-chaining, no sharing bandwidth with wired workstations.

End-to-End Run Testing

Every run tested with a Fluke LinkIQ or equivalent. Pass/fail results documented and delivered with the as-built package. If a run doesn't pass, we fix it — not flag it and move on.

How It Works

From Site Survey to Signed-Off Documentation

Every law firm cabling project follows a four-step process designed to minimize disruption while delivering infrastructure that outlasts the lease.

01

Site Survey & Design

We walk the space, assess your existing infrastructure, identify the server room, conference rooms, and every workstation location. You get a scope document with drop counts, pathway plan, and material spec before we schedule any work.

02

Scheduled Installation

Rough-in and cable pulls scheduled for evenings or weekends. Crew works room by room so only one area is disrupted at a time. We leave each work area clean before we go — no ceiling tiles pulled and left overnight.

03

Termination & Organization

Patch panel terminations, wall plate installations, cable dressing in the IT closet. Consistent labeling scheme applied at both ends. The server room gets organized and dressed — not just plugged in.

04

Testing & Handoff

End-to-end testing on every run. As-built drawings showing port-to-drop mapping. Physical port map delivered in PDF and printed copy for the server room. Your IT team inherits a fully documented system they can actually work with.

FAQ

Common Questions About Law Firm Cabling

Yes — this is standard for us on law firm projects. We schedule all drilling, cable pulls, and noisy work for evenings and weekends. If the firm has depositions or hearings scheduled, we get the calendar and plan around it. Work happens room by room so operations in the rest of the office are never affected. You arrive Monday morning to a finished, tested system.
A private office typically gets 3–4 drops: one for the workstation, one for a VoIP phone, one spare, and sometimes one for a docking station or secondary monitor. Conference rooms get 4–6 drops. Reception and paralegal stations get 2–3 each. Add AP drops at one per 1,500 sq ft and camera drops as needed. We do a specific per-room count during the site survey — not a generic formula.
Before move-in is by far the best time — ideally during the TI (tenant improvement) construction phase while walls are open. Installing cabling in a finished, furnished law office costs 2–3x more per drop than rough-in during construction, and it's more disruptive. If you're signing a new lease or planning a renovation, bring us in early. We coordinate directly with your GC so cabling is in place before furniture arrives.
No — that's the point of investing in Cat6A now. The physical cabling typically lasts 15–25 years and supports technology generations well beyond what you need today. When you upgrade switches, add new ISP circuits, or deploy different hardware, the cabling stays in place. Only the active equipment in the IT closet changes. Good cabling infrastructure is the one component you don't want to be cheap about, because retrofitting it later is expensive and disruptive.
Yes — and we'd recommend it. Security cameras, access control readers, and intercoms all run on PoE over Cat6A, so one pull handles everything. Running a separate cabling project for security later means opening walls and ceilings again, which doubles disruption and cost. We handle the full low-voltage scope — data, phones, cameras, access control — under one contract, one project schedule, and one documentation package.
