PDK (ProdataKey) is a Utah-based cloud access control maker, founded in 2011, that sells through installing partners. We service Red door controllers, the Cloud Node, Red Readers V2, the pdk.io cloud platform, and PDK Access app mobile credentials.
Where PDK Fits in NYC
PDK is a cloud-first access control system: every site has one Cloud Node that connects to the pdk.io platform, and Red door controllers find the Cloud Node on the local network. It shows up in NYC offices, retail and mixed-use buildings where owners want to manage doors from a browser or phone.
The service story centers on network changes and lost admin access. An ISP router swap or switch change can take the Cloud Node or a controller offline in pdk.io, and when the original installer is gone, nobody on site has the login. Mobile credential reliability on storefront doors is the other common call.
The PDK Platform

Cloud Node
The main system panel and the site gateway to pdk.io. Every site needs one. It also runs one door, and it stores data on site so doors keep working through an internet outage.
Red Door Controllers
Door controllers that connect to the site Cloud Node over Ethernet and are found automatically, with OSDP reader support and optional wireless or PoE++ module kits. The Red Max scales to 24 doors.
Red Readers V2
OSDP readers that take Bluetooth phone credentials, 125 kHz proximity and 13.56 MHz high-security cards, in mullion and single-gang styles, with or without a keypad.
pdk.io and PDK Access App
Cloud management for people, schedules, alerts and multiple sites from a browser or the PDK Access app. The app is also the mobile credential: Bluetooth at the reader, plus push-to-open remote unlock.

No admin access after the installer leaves
PDK sites are set up and managed through an installing partner. When that installer is gone, nobody on site has a working pdk.io login. Getting control back runs through PDK support, and we coordinate that and take over service.
Affects: Any PDK site whose original installer is no longer involved
Cloud Node Ethernet handoff drops after ISP router swap
Common NYC scenario: tenant swaps internet provider, the Cloud Node loses its connection, and the site shows offline in pdk.io. Reconfigure the static IP or DHCP reservation at the new router.
Affects: Cloud Node deployments
Mobile credential BLE range inconsistent on glass doors
PDK mobile unlock relies on BLE proximity; metal-framed glass doors with reader on frame interior produce inconsistent read ranges. Reader relocation or alternate credential type.
Affects: PDK Access app mobile credentials on glass storefront doors
Door controller offline after a network change
Red controllers find the Cloud Node over the local network. A switch replacement, VLAN change or bad patch cable can leave one controller offline in pdk.io while the Cloud Node itself is fine.
Affects: Red 1, Red 2, Red 4, Red 8 on shared building networks
The Service Specifics
PDK sells through installing partners, so a site's pdk.io account is usually set up and managed by the company that installed it. When that company has left, we work with PDK support to restore admin access and take over service of the system.
PDK door controllers only work with a PDK Cloud Node, so panel swaps stay within PDK hardware. Red readers use OSDP, and pdk.io can manage several buildings under one account.
