Conference room AV not working? Same-day repair when we can make it.
The meeting starts in two hours, the control panel will not respond, the display shows no signal, the ceiling mics will not pick up voices, or the video call system cannot join. We respond same-day to boardroom and conference room AV emergencies across NYC.
Nothing was touched, but the whole room is dark. Usually a power event, a firmware update that went bad, or a control processor crash. We check the simple causes first.
Worked last week, dead today
Nothing was touched, but the whole room is dark. Usually a power event, a firmware update that went bad, or a control processor crash. We check the simple causes first.
Control panel unresponsive
The Crestron touch panel, iPad control or button panel will not boot, will not connect, or shows the wrong screens. The control processor is offline, the panel firmware failed, or the network dropped.
Display shows no signal
The TV or projector turns on but gets no video. A matrix output problem, an HDMI handshake failure, a display identity (EDID) problem or a cable fault. A fast check at the matrix.
Mics not picking up voices
The ceiling array, table mic or wireless mics register nothing. A DSP input problem, a mic muted at the processor, or a dead mic.
Video call will not join
The Zoom Room, Teams Room or Google Meet hardware cannot join calls or shows no camera. Appliance firmware, an account problem, or the camera side.
Echo or feedback
People on the far end hear an echo, or the room feeds back on itself. The DSP echo cancelling is misconfigured, or the speakers sit too close to the mics.
The five common culprits, in the order we check them.
Most room failures are one piece that broke. We find it before we touch the rest.
Control processor crash or firmware
The Crestron, AMX or Extron processor at the heart of the room crashed, locked up, or updated to bad firmware, and everything after it looks dead. A reboot often fixes it short term. A reflash or program reload fixes it for good.
HDMI handshake or display identity
The copy protection handshake between source and display failed, or the matrix cached the wrong display identity (EDID). Common after swapping laptops or displays. Usually a fast fix at the matrix.
DSP settings drift
The audio DSP, a Biamp Tesira or QSC Q-SYS, has a mute or gain set wrong, often after someone with partial access changed something else. We audit the settings and restore them.
Network or cloud reach
Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms and modern video call appliances need the cloud to work. A firewall change, an ISP problem or an expired account certificate takes them offline.
Hardware failure
One piece of gear died: an amp, the matrix, a camera, a mic receiver. Replaced with a matched or compatible unit. Common gear is in stock, and specialty gear gets a firm date.
Boardroom dead before a big meeting?
Call and tell us the deadline. We give you an honest window, and if we cannot make it in time, we tell you the workaround: a laptop straight to the display, a portable speaker, a portable camera.
You do not need the original installer.
Most conference room emergencies are on systems installed by integrators who are gone or not answering. We identify the gear, recover the programming where possible, and get the room working.
The brands we service
Conference room AV across the brands common in NYC offices, plus the legacy matrix switchers in rooms that have been retrofitted many times.
The programming side
Control systems like Crestron and Q-SYS need programming knowledge, not just hardware swaps. We handle room resets, device repairs, settings changes and failover restores, and coordinate deep programming with the vendor.
Rooms rarely need full replacement.
When we repair
Most room emergencies are a settings fix, a firmware reflash, a cable swap or one replaced component. The design is usually fine. One piece broke.
When we recommend a rebuild
The system is 10 or more years old and holding you back, you are renovating anyway, or the control system brand has no support path left. Then we quote the upgrade with real cost math.

Four steps, and the basics come back first.
Phone triage with the deadline
When the meeting is and what is broken. Five minutes narrows the failure, and the deadline tells us how to dispatch. We are honest about what fits in the time.
Room walk
Control processor, matrix, DSP, cameras, mics and displays, in that order. The first 20 minutes isolates the problem. Display and audio often come back first.
Fix, or set up a workaround
Settings fixes, reflashes, cable swaps and common hardware are same-visit. For specialty gear we set up a workaround so the meeting can happen.
Test every scenario
Every source on the display, every mic picking up voice, a test call joined, the control panel doing what it should. Written summary of the fix and any follow-up.
