Network down repair . NYC and tri-state

Office network down? Same-day repair when we can, any layer.

Nothing reaches the internet, Wi-Fi will not connect, the phones are dark, and cloud apps cannot reach their servers. It could be the ISP, the firewall, the main switch or a power problem in the equipment closet. We work the layers in order and get you back online.

NETWORK DOWN · 01 / NOTHING WORKS ANYWHERE

Nothing works anywhere

No internet, no Wi-Fi, no phones, no cloud apps. The ISP, the main firewall or router, or power to the equipment closet. We check in that order.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
Power in the closet, then a direct test at the ISP modem.
NETWORK DOWN · 02 / WIRED WORKS, WI-FI DOES NOT

Wired works, Wi-Fi does not

Devices plugged into a jack work, but wireless is dead everywhere. The wireless controller is offline, the access points lost their link to it, or the Wi-Fi settings got corrupted.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The wireless controller and the switch ports feeding the access points.
NETWORK DOWN · 03 / WI-FI WORKS, WIRED DOES NOT

Wi-Fi works, wired does not

Devices on Wi-Fi reach the internet, but wired jacks are dead. The main switch died, lost power, or its ports are failing. A different fix from a Wi-Fi outage.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
Power and status on the main switch.
NETWORK DOWN · 04 / CONNECTED, BUT NO INTERNET

Connected, but no internet

Devices show connected and reach the local network, but not the internet. An ISP outage, a firewall rule blocking traffic, a DNS failure or a routing problem.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
A test at the ISP modem, then the firewall rules and DNS.
NETWORK DOWN · 05 / SOME DEVICES WORK, SOME DO NOT

Some devices work, some do not

Some workstations reach the internet and others do not, or the phones work and something else does not. A firewall rule, a VLAN problem, the DHCP pool running out, or one switch failing.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
What the failing devices share: switch, VLAN or address range.
NETWORK DOWN · 06 / BROKE AFTER THE ISP VISIT

Broke after the ISP visit

Verizon, Spectrum or Optimum installed new equipment and the network has been broken since. Firewall rules lost, the address range changed, static addresses no longer valid. Very common.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The new ISP equipment and how the firewall connects to it.

What takes networks down 06

The six common culprits, in the order we check them.

We start with the free fixes: power, then the ISP, then your own gear.

01

Power to the equipment closet

A UPS died, a breaker tripped, or the closet lost power entirely, and all the network gear is dark. We check this first. The fix might be a breaker reset.

Power
02

ISP outage or equipment

Verizon, Spectrum, Optimum or your business ISP had an outage or sent bad equipment. A direct test at the demarc tells us. If it is the ISP, we help you escalate. If it is your side, we fix it.

ISP
03

Firewall or router failure

The main firewall died, locked up, or has corrupted settings. A hardware swap, a firmware reflash, or the settings restored from backup. The firewall is the gate, so it gets checked early.

Firewall
04

Main switch failure

The core switch died. Every wired device on it, and anything downstream such as Wi-Fi access points, goes offline together. A switch replacement with the settings restored.

SwitchWi-Fi
05

DNS or firewall rule problem

Everything shows connected but websites will not load. The DNS server is unreachable, or a rule change is blocking outbound traffic. A fast, settings-level diagnosis.

06

After an ISP equipment swap

The ISP replaced the modem or router, and the firewall no longer connects properly. The address range changed, static addresses are invalid, rules point to old addresses. We re-anchor the settings to the new equipment.

Is it the ISP, or is it us?

Plug a laptop straight into the ISP modem, not your firewall. If the laptop cannot get online, it is the ISP. If it can, the problem is between the modem and your people. Call and we walk you through it in five minutes.

Any brand, even if we did not install it

You do not need the original installer.

Most network emergencies are on networks set up by consultants or staff who are no longer around. We identify the equipment, recover admin access, and restore service.

The ISP side

Many network-down calls are really the ISP. We test at the demarc, verify the service, and when the problem is on their side we work with their support to escalate. We do not just hand you the phone.

Repair or replace

Replace only what is dead.

When we fix

Most network emergencies are a settings fix, a cable swap or a power restore, not new hardware. We check every free fix before we quote equipment.

When we recommend replacing

The firewall or switch is a dead model that cannot be reflashed, the gear is at end of life, or it cannot handle your load, such as consumer gear in a 20-person office. Then we quote the right-sized replacement with honest math.

The repair visit 04

How a network-down call goes.

Four steps, and critical services come back first.

01

Phone triage

Everything down, Wi-Fi only, wired only, some users, or after an ISP change. Five minutes narrows it to a layer and tells us what to bring.

02

Walk the layers

ISP test at the demarc, firewall health, main switch status, UPS and power. The first 20 minutes finds the dead layer.

03

Fix, or part on order

Settings fixes, cable swaps, firmware reflashes and ISP coordination are same-visit. Common hardware is same-visit too. Where we can, phones and cloud apps come back first.

04

Verify and document

Internet, Wi-Fi, wired jacks, phones and cloud apps verified, firewall rules confirmed. Written summary and any changes added to your IT file.

Frequent questions 05

Network down FAQ.

Plug a laptop directly into the ISP's modem, not your firewall. If the laptop cannot reach the internet, it is the ISP. If it can, the problem is between the modem and your users: the firewall, switch, router or Wi-Fi. We walk you through it on the phone.
Yes, and it is one of our most common calls. ISP router swaps often break firewall rules, VLANs, address reservations and static addresses. A clean fix once we see the new network: restore the rules, update the addresses, and connect the firewall to the new modem correctly.
Usually, yes. Depending on the brand: a console-cable password reset, a factory reset with the settings backed up first, or vendor support with proof of ownership. We tell you up front what recovery looks like for your firewall and whether any settings will be lost.
Yes. We often handle the physical and infrastructure side while your IT consultant handles applications. If the fix is in their area, we hand it over with full documentation.
