IP intercom not connecting? We fix the network, the panel and the account.
ButterflyMX, DoorBird, Akuvox, Comelit, Aiphone IX or UniFi showing offline. Tenants cannot answer the door from their phones, or the lobby panel cannot reach the cloud. We work through the network, firewall, firmware and account so it comes back cleanly.
The lobby panel lost its link to the cloud, and no tenant gets calls in the app. The panel's network connection, the building firewall, or the ISP equipment upstream.
Panel offline, nobody can answer
The lobby panel lost its link to the cloud, and no tenant gets calls in the app. The panel's network connection, the building firewall, or the ISP equipment upstream.
Offline after a new router
The ISP installed a new router or gateway and the intercom has not worked since. A lost address reservation, an address conflict, or the panel on the wrong network segment. Common, and fast once we see the network.
Some tenants get calls, some do not
The panel is online, but some tenants do not get the ring. An expired registration, a stale device after a phone swap, or the phone suppressing notifications.
Call arrives, no audio or video
The phone rings and you answer, but you cannot see or hear the visitor. The firewall is blocking the media stream, or the panel has a port problem.
App unlock does nothing
Audio and video work, but the unlock button in the app does not open the door. The panel's release output, the strike wiring, or a setting that turned off remote unlock after an update.
Cannot log in to the admin
The management portal will not accept the login, or the account is locked after a management company change. We restore access, with the vendor when needed.
The six common culprits, in the order we check them.
IP intercom failures are usually around the panel, not in it. We check the network first.
Network connection at the panel
The panel cannot reach the local network at all. A dead PoE injector, a bad patch cable, a switch port that stopped passing traffic, or a network change that isolated the panel. A laptop at the panel confirms it in minutes.
Firewall or router change
Someone changed the building firewall or router and blocked the panel's connection to its cloud. Common after an ISP router swap or a network hardening. We find the blocked destination and open the right rule.
Address conflict or lost reservation
The panel had a reserved address. Now something else has it, or the panel moved and the settings still point to the old one. We restore the reservation and re-anchor the panel.
Expired certificate or old firmware
The firmware certificate expired, or the version is too old for the vendor's cloud. We update the firmware and re-enroll the panel. Common on panels untouched for 2 or more years.
Account settings drift
Tenant accounts removed and re-added wrong, stale devices after phone swaps, or a new owner who inherited a half-configured system. We restore a clean account, with the vendor when needed.
Phone suppressing notifications
iOS or Android stopped delivering the app's notifications in the background, or the carrier is dropping them. It looks like "my phone never rang" while the panel is healthy. An on-site test ring confirms it.
New router, and the intercom went offline?
Almost always the cause. A router swap often loses the panel's address reservation, changes the firewall defaults, or moves the network to a new range. An easy fix once we see the new network.
You do not need the original installer.
We work on the common app-based intercom platforms across NYC, including systems from installers who are long gone. We identify what is there, restore cloud reach, and get tenants back on the app.
The video and app platforms
IP and app-based intercoms across NYC, plus platforms we see less often. If it has a tenant app and a cloud account, we have probably been inside it.
The network, firewall and cabling side
IP intercom failures are often on the network, not the panel. We repair the PoE, network segments, firewall rules and wiring that keep the panel reachable, and only hand off to your IT consultant when the fix is clearly outside the intercom path.
IP intercoms rarely need replacing.
When we repair
Most IP intercom calls are a settings fix, a network repair or a firmware update. The hardware is usually healthy because these panels are 2 to 7 years old. We fix what is around the panel and it comes back cleanly.
When we recommend replacing
The vendor ended support for the model and the cloud no longer accepts it, a management change left the account unrecoverable, or you were already planning to switch platforms. Then we lay out the trade-offs with cost comparisons.

Four steps, and we test every scenario from the app before we leave.
Phone triage and account check
Panel offline, some tenants affected, after an ISP change, or no notifications. We check the vendor admin console while you describe it, and many fixes show up there.
Network and panel diagnostic
Does the panel get an address, reach the gateway, reach its cloud? If not, we fix the network first. If all three pass, we move to firmware and the account.
Firmware, account or hardware fix
Update the firmware, restore the account, replace the PoE injector, or swap the part that failed. Documented for your building file.
Test every scenario
Lobby rings, tenant phones get the call, video and audio both ways, the app unlocks the door, the call history logs. Written summary and the vendor account details for your records.
