Cable certification . NYC and tri-state

Need cable certification testing? We test every run and deliver the PDF.

A buildout spec requires test reports. Your lease demands documented Cat6A performance. An insurance claim needs proof the cable met standards. Or you are about to upgrade and need to know which runs will carry it. We test to spec and deliver signed PDF reports.

CERTIFICATION TESTING · 01 / LEASE OR BUILDOUT REQUIREMENT

Lease or buildout requirement

The lease or tenant improvement spec requires test reports for every data run. Standard in Class A buildings and government work. We test to the level required: Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6A.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The spec document, so we test to the right level.
CERTIFICATION TESTING · 02 / BEFORE YOU ACCEPT NEW WORK

Before you accept new work

A new install just finished and you want independent certification testing before you accept it and pay the installer. We test, flag anything out of spec, and hand you a clean report or a punch list.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The installer's run list and labels.
CERTIFICATION TESTING · 03 / INSURANCE CLAIM

Insurance claim

You need to show the cable plant was in spec before a water event, fire or construction incident. We retest the runs and document what is still good and what the damage cost you.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The affected runs, tested against spec.
CERTIFICATION TESTING · 04 / BEFORE A 10G OR WI-FI UPGRADE

Before a 10G or Wi-Fi upgrade

You are adding 10G switches, new Wi-Fi access points or PoE cameras, and need to know which existing runs will carry them. We test to the spec the upgrade needs and tell you which runs pass.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The upgrade plan, then the runs it depends on.
CERTIFICATION TESTING · 05 / UNEXPLAINED NETWORK PROBLEMS

Unexplained network problems

The network has intermittent problems and you suspect cabling. We test the suspect runs, find failures or marginal runs, and give you a prioritized fix list.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The runs serving the devices with problems.
CERTIFICATION TESTING · 06 / FIBER CERTIFICATION TESTING

Fiber certification testing

Backbone fiber, data center cross-connects or campus links. An OTDR trace with distance, loss and splice loss documented, delivered as a PDF.

FIRST THING WE CHECK
The fiber type and the connectors at both ends.

What certification measures 06

The six tests behind a passing run.

Not just whether it works, but whether it meets the standard. This is what certification testing checks.

01

Wire map and pin assignment

All 8 wires terminated to the right pins at both ends. It catches miswires, split pairs and reversed pairs that are invisible without the tester.

Wire map
02

Length and delay

The run is within the maximum length for its spec, 90 meters for a Cat6 or Cat6A permanent link. Flags runs that are too long or have too much delay skew.

Length
03

Insertion loss

How much signal reaches the far end. It catches marginal cables that pass a basic continuity test but fail under load.

Loss
04

Crosstalk

How much the pairs interfere with each other, including the full ACR-F and PS-ACR-F suite TIA-568 requires for the spec level.

Crosstalk
05

Return loss

Impedance mismatches at terminations or splices bounce signal back toward the source. This catches them before they cause dropouts in production.

Return loss
06

Fiber loss, OTDR and length

Light loss at both wavelengths, an OTDR trace documenting length and splice loss, and verification against TIA-568.3. All on the PDF.

Need reports before move-in or sign-off?

A typical office floor of 50 to 100 drops is one day on site, and the PDF reports follow within 2 to 3 business days. We can usually schedule within a week.

Any installer, any age of cable

You do not need the original installer.

You do not need us to install the cable to have us test it. We regularly retest installs by other integrators and deliver the test reports.

The cable types we test

Copper and fiber to the spec level you need, plus coax (RG6, RG11) and specialty low-voltage where you need documented performance.

The deliverable

Every engagement produces real documentation, suitable for a buildout, a lease, an insurance claim or your own records. Need the whole cable plant mapped, with floor plans and a cable schedule? See as-built cable documentation and a sample report.

Repair or replace

We flag what fails. You decide what to do.

What the report shows

Every run with pass or fail at the standard you asked for. Each failure comes with a diagnosis: a wiring issue, a length problem, interference or hardware. A clear picture of what works and what does not.

If runs fail

We quote the fix after the test, whether that is a re-termination, a re-pull or a patch panel swap, or you hire the original installer to fix their own work. Either way, you know what is true about your cable plant.

How a certification testing job goes.

Four steps, from scope to signed PDF.

01

Scope and quote

How many runs, which spec level, the timeline and any required standard or report format. We quote on run count and site complexity.

02

On-site testing

Fluke DSX for copper and OTDR for fiber. Every run tested end to end, pass or fail, with full data captured. Typically 50 to 100 runs a day, depending on the site.

03

Analysis and documentation

We compile the results into a clean PDF, per run or summary plus detail, build a run-by-run spreadsheet, and flag each failure with a diagnosis.

04

Delivery and fix quote

PDF reports by email. If runs failed, we quote the fix separately, and you can hire us or the original installer.

Frequent questions 06

Cable certification FAQ.

It depends on the use. Cat6 supports 10G only on shorter runs, up to about 55 meters, and is standard for most offices. Cat6A supports 10G on full 100 meter channels and is required for high-density data environments. We help you pick the spec and test to that level.
Yes. We regularly test installs from other integrators, either as third-party verification before you accept the work or as documentation years later. We report what we find.
The report flags each failure with a diagnosis, and you decide. We can quote the fix separately, or you can go back to the original installer. Either way, you own clear documentation of what works and what does not.
A typical office floor with 50 to 100 drops is one day on site. Larger projects scale from there. We can usually schedule within a week, and the PDF reports arrive within 2 to 3 business days after the test.
Yes. OTDR traces for multimode (OM3 and OM4) and singlemode (OS2), with distance, loss and splice loss documented, plus light loss verification against TIA-568.3. All delivered as PDF.
Yes. We label both ends of every run with consistent IDs and update the patch panel labels. If you need the full picture, with floor plan overlays, a cable schedule and a binder, that is our as-built cable documentation service.
